A simple checklist for a better first conversation.
You do not need a perfect plan to call. A few photos, your town, and a short description help explain what you want to repair or improve. Use this checklist before discussing trim, home repairs, flooring, or a kitchen or bathroom update.
01 / SHOW THE SPACE
Take useful photos.
Start with a wide view of the room or area. Add close-ups of damage, joints, edges, or the detail you want changed. For trim, include the profile; for flooring, include the doorways and adjoining surfaces. Share photos directly when you text.
02 / EXPLAIN THE GOAL
Repair, replace, or update?
Describe what is happening now and what you want to be different. A list of small repairs can be grouped by room. For a remodel, separate the parts you want to keep from the parts you want to change.
03 / SHARE THE DETAILS
Materials & timing.
Include approximate dimensions if you have them, any materials already purchased, and your preferred timing. If a product has been selected, keep its brand and model information handy. Measurements and photos are starting points, not a final assessment.
MAKE YOUR FIRST MESSAGE EASIER
Build a project note.
This tool creates a message for you to copy. It does not send an inquiry or save your entries. You can leave out anything you are unsure about.
Paste the message into your texting app, add any useful photos, and send when you are ready. Availability and pricing are discussed directly.
BEFORE YOU BUY MATERIALS
A few things to talk through first.
For flooring, mention the current floor, any soft or uneven areas, and the rooms involved. For trim, decide whether you want to match an existing profile or change the look. For a kitchen or bathroom, describe the whole project so related work can be considered together.
A photo cannot always show the condition behind a finished surface. Ask what needs to be reviewed before finalizing materials or the scope of work.
